We are lucky enough to live in an area that is rich in sheepy goodness. Wool and wool products are highly valued among farmers, crafts people, guild members, festivals, and authors. Here is some of the local sheep related activity that we thrive on.
Ellison Sheep Farm: http://www.ellisonsheepfarm.com/
This is the amazing lady that Trevor bought his spinning wheel from. She raises her own sheep and teaches craft classes right on her farm. Besides spinning wheels, she also sells looms and other wool crafts supplies.
Beelighted: http://www.beelighted.com/
This is a shop that sells supplies to fiber artists and hosts craft sessions and lessons, generally wonderful for building a community of fiber lovers.
Zumbro River Fiber Arts Guild: http://www.zumbroriverfiberartsguild.com/
The club for those who are serious about fiber crafts. Rich in resources and moral support.
Catherine Friend: http://www.catherinefriend.com/
Catherine Friend is a local author who has written a number of books both fiction and nonfiction, adult and children's. Some of her more recent works include memoirs of running a sheep farm with her partner, Melissa. They are hilarious and inspirational, and full of lots of fun facts about wool.
Shepherd's Harvest Festival: http://www.shepherdsharvestfestival.org/New_Site/
This happens every year on Mother's Day weekend. All the fiber fanatics in the area assemble to take classes, show off their sheep and crafts, and basically nerd out in good company.
